In which we sample delicious tacos in the Bay Area.

TACOS! There are so many delicious ones to choose from in the Bay Area. We have local neighborhood favorites in the East Bay, but our first post here about tacos features a special place we just visited in the city. It came recommended to us by a good friend and talented home cook who lives in the Bayview in San Francisco.

Have you guessed where we're talking about yet? Drum roll please....
It's TATO on 3rd Street! Tato has been around since 2005. They use locally-sourced ingredients inspired by Tato's grandmother in Mexico City, along with some innovative fusion yumminess. They've got an impressive menu but here's what we had specifically and loved every bite:
Shredded Chicken Tinga Taco $4
Indian Stewed Chickpea Taco $4
Berkshire Pork Al Pastor Taco $4
Pan Seared Shrimp Taco $5
The restaurant is both homey and artfully decorated, with Mexican food cookbooks in the back, ample table space and an open kitchen feeling.

We want to hear from you! Have you been TATO? What was your favorite meal there?
